Prof Laloo felicitated

The Dorbar Shnong of the Lion Mission Compound, Jowai felicitated the first Deputy Chief Minister from Jaintia Hills, Prof RC Laloo at a function held at Lion Mission Compound Community Hall on Tuesday. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Laloo said, “This is the locality where I was born and brought up and I must say I never expected to achieve what I have achieved.”

Employees’ rally

The Meghalaya State Government Employees Federation held its 12th Federal Council meeting and employees’ rally in the city on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Secretary WMS Pariat said that the grievances of the State Government employees would be taken care of in an appropriate manner and time.

IGNOU admissions

IGNOU has announced admission for July 2013 academic session for all programmes. The regional centre can be contacted for the prospectus.

Science exhibition

The valedictory function of the District Level Science Exhibition will be held at Science Hall Nongpoh on April 26 at 1.30 pm.

Blood donation

The World Mission Society Church of God will organise a blood donation camp at NEIGRIHMS on April 26 from 10 am.

Earth Day

As part of Earth Day observation, the District Administration, South West Khasi Hills District in collaboration with the Office of the Divisional Forest Officer, Social Forestry Division, Nongstion organised an awareness programme relating to critical catchment area of Wahsala stream at Mawkyrwat on April 22.

SMB tags

The CEO of the Shillong Municipal Board has directed all residents to register their pets with the SMB and obtain tags. Any dog found without tag will be treated as a stray dog.
