Attempted rape

On April 23 around 8pm, one Krishna Biswa (26) a driver of a local taxi (ML-05D-5195) allegedly attempted to rape a woman (38) in the Cantonment Area, Shillong.

Assault

Agnes Kharshiing lodged a complaint at Shillong Sadar PS that in December, one Dianghun Shabong (70) assaulted Surrilda Shabong (70) at her residence in Wahingdoh. During the month, Dilily Shangpliang, Theire Sohtun and Meithi Sohtun went to the house of Surrilda Shabong and poured hot water on her legs. As a result, the victim sustained injuries.

Kidnapping

lA woman lodged a complaint at Tura PS that on April 15 around 4pm, one Sengseng M Sangma kidnapped her daughter (17) from Dobakol, Tura, and took her to an unknown destination where he sexually abused her for three days. The accused also threatened her and her family members with dire consequences. Police arrested the accused.

lA woman lodged a complaint at Lumdiengjri PS that on April 23, one Wanboklang Kharbudon, alias Michael, kidnapped her daughter (17) from Qualapatty, Shillong. However, on April 24, the victim was rescued and the accused was arrested.

lProbot M. Sangma lodged a complaint at Tura PS that on April 20 at about 7:30 pm, unidentified miscreants abducted Laben D Sangma, a coal supplier and Bupender Singh, a truck driver (JK-02V-1475) from Rongku Bridge, West Garo Hills.

Theft

lOn April 23 around 3am, one truck turned over between Nongdiengkain and Chisimpara village, West Khasi Hills, causing a traffic jam in the area in which around thirty trucks were stranded. Taking advantage of the situation, unidentified miscreants armed with daos looted the truck drivers.

lOn April 19, unknown miscreants broke into the shop of Kayam Sheikh at Dadenggre Bazar, West Garo Hills, and stole seven DVD players, 20 mobile phones and three card readers valued at around Rs 45,000.

lOn April 7 around 6:30 pm, unknown miscreants broke into the shop of Mary K Bani at New Nongstoin and stole Rs 28,000, two mobile phones and goods valued at around Rs 3,500.

Body recovered

On April 22, the body of Jonbir Kachary, alias Rana, was recovered from a jungle at Rongchuchiring under Rongjeng PS (East Garo Hills). The deceased was reportedly missing along with his Maruti car (AS-18A-7015) from the Kharkutta area since April 16.

FICN racketeer arrested

BSF troops of Purakhasia in South Garo Hills apprehended one Bangladeshi FICN racketeer identified as Piyus Koch. During the search, fake Indian currency with a face value of Rs 15,000 was found. The seized notes were being smuggled from Bangladesh and was meant for circulation in the Indian market.

Abandoned vehicle

On the evening of April 23, one scooter (ML-05J-8352) was found abandoned at Lama Villa, Shillong. The scooter was brought to Lumdiengjri PS.
