RG Lyngdoh appointed MLCU Vice Chancellor

 SHILLONG: Former Home Minister Robert G Lyngdoh has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of the Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU).

Lyngdoh would assume office on July 1, 2013.

Dr KM Shyamprasad, Chancellor of MLCU, announced the selection to the Board of Governors at its meeting held on Thursday.

Glenn C Kharkongor, the first Vice Chancellor of MLCU will be the Pro Chancellor of the University.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, MLCU said the new VC would bring a wealth of administrative and corporate experience to his new position.

The former Home Minister has a postgraduate degree from the prestigious Xavier Institute of Labour Relations and has held corporate positions in Mumbai and Shillong, most recently as the CEO of Livelihood Improvement Company of Meghalaya (LIFCOM) a micro financing company of the Government of Meghalaya with a developmental objective.

He has been associated with MLCU as Advisor for several years and has been member of the Board of Studies for Tourism Management.

When contacted, Lyngdoh said that he is happy to be assigned this new responsibility.

“I would try my best to contribute to the overall growth and development of the University,” he added.
