SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Swimming Association (MSA), with the objective of promoting springboard diving amongst the youth in the state, will organise a Diving Clinic at Crinoline Swimming Pool, Shillong, in May.

The Manipur Swimming Association is sending a diving coach and a springboard diver to conduct the training camp, scheduled from May 15-18.

There will be practical and theory classes during the four-day coaching sessions to be conducted by N Debeshwor Singh, swimming and diving coach, Sports Authority of India, SAG Centre, Imphal, and assisted by springboard diver Th Momo Singh.

Through a press release issued by the MSA, Ian Khongmen, general secretary of the Association, said that the physical structure and build of the tribals in the state is suitable for springboard diving and this aquatic sport has a lot of potential here.

All youth interested in learning springboard diving can register for the diving clinic by giving their names and other necessary information at the office of the Meghalaya Swimming Association at Crinoline Swimming Pool between 9am and 5pm from Monday April 29 onwards.

Screening of the youth will be conducted by the MSA and this will be notified later.
