Bollywood reacts!!!! ‘‘Petty-minded’’ politics took away the life of Sarabjit Singh, Bollywood filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar and veteran writer Javed Akhtar said, as Hindi film celebrities reacted strongly to the death of the Indian death row prisoner in Pakistan.

Here’s what the celebrities posted on Twitter on his death:

Madhur Bhandarkar: Pakistan should have sent his body earlier to India. Feel sad for Sarabjit Singh’s family. For them, the long hopeful wait has come to a sad end. His death will always be a reminder of petty minded politics.

Javed Akhtar: Some day I may forget Kargil, but will never forget Sarabjit’s murder. It is an act of extreme meanness by a very petty minded establishment.

Mahesh Bhatt: Sarabjit Singh’s death has pushed the Indo-Pak relationship to the brink. The Pakistan civil society needs to push their government to act humanly.

Kunal Kohli: Dear Sarabjit’s family. Like the families of Nirbhaya, the beheaded solider, the 5-year-old old raped girl. Your son too will not get justice.

Farhan Akhtar: With Sarabjit’s death, Pakistan has painted itself a heartless villain, even in the most forgiving Indian’s eye. Unforgettable insensitivity. RIP.

Sophie Choudry: RIP Sarabjit Singh. Strength, prayers and condolences to the family. Hate may have killed him, but red tape let him die.

Sonam Kapoor: I feel betrayed as an Indian.

Aadesh Shrivastava: Sarabjit ki mout ka zimmeydaar Pakistan ke saath saath hamari sarkaar bhi zimmedaar hai..bahut hi dukh ki aur sharm ki baat hai. (Our government is equally responsible just like Pakistan’s government for Sarabjit’s death. It is a matter of grief of shame.)

Sarabjit Singh died in a Lahore hospital Thursday, a week after being severly beaten up by two fellow inmates in jail.

He had been sentenced to death for bomb blasts in Lahore and Multan that left 14 people dead. (IANS)
