SHILLONG: Forty-three-year old Australian, Brandan Christopher Field has allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself inside his room at Nongrah on Thursday.

Field’s wife Antoinette has reportedly informed the police that her husband hanged himself.

Police informed that they found the body lying on the floor with strangulation marks when they arrived at his residence. When asked if they was any foul play, police said that the case does not appear to be so.

“We have to wait for the post mortem report to ascertain the cause of death,” police said.

When contacted, Nongrah Donglum Rangbah Dong S War informed that the family had been staying in a rented house in the locality for the last seven months.

According to War, she (Antoinette) had told that her husband was not staying with her since he was living abroad when she came to register herself in the locality.

Informing that anyone who comes to stay in the locality, the Dorbar Shnong insists the deposition of photograph of all the members of the family should be submitted, he said that he had told Antoinette to submit the photograph of her husband whenever he comes to visit the family.

‘But sadly this incident took place,” War said.

He also said that he along with the Rangbah Shnong had rushed to the house after they were informed about the incident.

Meanwhile, police have recorded the statement of Ms Antoinette besides registering a case.

On the other hand, sources from the locality informed the family has been staying in the rented house for the past eight months now.

“Antoinette had registered her name, along with her other family members, with the locality,” the source said.

While quoting Antoinette, the source said that Christopher was working outside the country, but used to visit the family.
