TURA: Regular attendance in class followed by daily studies at home, frequent power disruptions notwithstanding, has propelled 18-year old Subham Kumar Gupta of Don Bosco College, Tura, into the top ten position of the State in this year’s Higher Secondary School Leaving certificate Examination, Science Stream, results of which were declared on Saturday morning.
Subham secured the 8th position in the State bringing laurels for Garo hills. He was the only one to do so in this year’s Class XII examinations.
The youngest among three siblings, an elder brother and sister, Subham is aiming to make a career in either electrical or computer engineering.
“The results were unexpected. I knew I had done well but to secure a position is simply remarkable,” a beaming Subham told The Shillong Times shortly after the results were declared.
He is the son of a cloth merchant Satya Narayan Gupta and homemaker Kiran Devi of Nakham Bazar.
He had successfully passed out his Class X SSLC examinations from Gaudiya Vedanta Vidyapith High School of Tura before enrolling in Don Bosco College to take up the science stream.
