NGOs seek cancellation of doctor’s transfer

 NONGPOH: Aggrieved by the transfer of a reputed medical and health officer (M&HO) of Nongpoh Civil hospital, a conglomeration of Women body and NGO’s on Tuesday urged upon the State Government to cancel the transfer order and repost him at Nongpoh Civil Hospital for the betterment and welfare of the people.

Dr Guidingstar Wahlang, M&HO specialist in child health and Gynecology, who had been serving in Nongpoh Civil Hospital for quite a long time was transfer from the Nongpoh to Ganesh Das Hospital, Shillong.

The Women group under the banner of Synrop ki Seng Longkmie Nongpoh Area accompanied by the leaders of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) comprising KSU, HNYF and RBYF of Nongpoh Circle met the Ri Bhoi District DM&HO Dr (Mrs) Flora Kharkongngor at her office chamber on Wednesday morning.

The conglomeration, led by representatives of the Synrop Ki Seng Longkmie, Nongpoh Area, KSU President and JAC chairman L. Rymbai along with other member of the JAC, urged the DM&HO to revoke the transfer of Dr. Wahlang and also asked her to bring him back to Nongpoh Civil Hospital.

According to them, Dr. Wahlang has done yeomen service in ensuing safe child birth delivering and also understood the problem of the people health wise. They also asserted that the people of Nongpoh have put their faith in him and thus they wanted him to continue in Nongpoh Civil Hospital.
