Village employment council Secretary arrested

 SHILLONG: The Mawsynram police on Wednesday arrested the secretary Bring Shongwan and chairman Bris Lyngdoh of Synnei Village Employment Council (VEC) for their alleged involvement in the misappropriation of funds under MNREGS.

The police made the arrest following an FIR lodge by Dlensing Dohsniew against the secretary and chairman of the VEC.

In the FIR, Dohsniew had alleged that the two had also forged the signatures of the muster rolls and job card holders besides misutilised the funds under the scheme.

Confirming the arrest, SDPO Sohra Ian Swer on Friday informed that the court have allowed of remanding the two accused into police custody.
