Dorbar submits charter of demands to Govt

SHILLONG: The Malki Dorbar Shnong on Thursday submitted a five-point charter of demand to the State Government with regards to the recent rape incident in the locality where a seven-year-old minor had been raped by unknown persons.

In a petition shot off to Chief Secretary WMS Pariat, the Dorbar Shnong said that the Dorbar has resolved that the matter of investigation should be left to the Crime Branch of the State Police.

The Dorbar urged the Government to direct the Crime Branch to speed up their investigation so that the perpetrators are arrested and duly punishment according to the law.

The Dorbar also demanded for post trauma counseling for the victim and also sought ex-gratia under the Meghalaya Victim Compensation Scheme.
