SHILLONG: The Tura Municipal Board has come under scanner for the alleged illegal collection of money by self styled officials of the Board with the ANVC (B) leader Rimpu Marak asking the Chief Executive Officer of Tura Municipal Board to clarify on the matter.

In a letter addressed to the CEO, the ANVC (B) leader said that certain employees of the Board, identified as Arnit and Berskley were collecting Rs 200 to Rs 300 from road side traders in the market by saying that they were authorized by CEO.

Marak sought the intervention of the CEO in this regard.

The ANVC(B) leader also wanted to know who ordered opening of the Sunday market at the auto rickshaw parking area of Tura Super market.

“What is the motive of allowing illegal vendors who do not have proper documents to do business illegally in the Municipal premise?” he asked.

According to Marak, this move was affecting the small traders and vegetable vendors, mostly Garo women who spend the whole day to sell a few vegetables.
