SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Minerals Exporters Chamber of Commerce and (MMECC) and Mawlong Ichamati Lime Stone Quarry Association (MILQA) have demanded the immediate repair of Wahjapuh Bridge even as they threatened to seek a legal remedy against the delay.
The MMECC president Stodar Dkhar on Monday lodged a complaint against the broken bridge with the Chief Engineer PWD (Roads). The group informed that the bridge broke down at least three times in the last one month.
According to Dkhar, it is a busy bridge where 1000 limestone trucks ply on a daily basis besides transportation of huge machineries. Due to this breakdown, export trade of limestone to Bangladesh has come to an unpleasant halt on such crucial period of business transaction,” the complaint letter said.
