Nursing conference gets underway

 SHILLONG: The IX Biennial State Student Nurses Association Conference organised by the Trained Nurses’ Association of India, Meghalaya State branch got underway here at Woodland Nursing Institute, Laitkor on Wednesday.

Organized under the theme ‘New Dimension in Nursing’, the conference will also include sports and games, and other activities for skill building and information-sharing among the nurses community.

Addressing the inaugural function as the chief guest, Health Minister AL Hek stressed on the theme stating that various dimensions such as comprehensive nursing care, nursing diagnosis, research, practice of nursing care at individual clinics with a touch of missionary zeal and humane approach is the key to good and satisfactory service.

“A touch of passion, coordination and cooperation of all stakeholders involved in the process will ensure smooth delivery of health care services to all concerned,” Hek said.

While stating that development of social sectors like education and health provide the base for further economic development, Hek said that to improve the health indices statistics such as IMR and MMR, decisions have to be taken in a professional manner to achieve the objective.
