Temporary court relief for Mahanta

SHILLONG: The High Court of Meghalaya on Wednesday granted an interim stay till June 3 against the recent order of the Deputy Commissioner (Judicial) B Giri on the alleged illegal possession of land at Lachumiere by the former Additional Advocate General of Meghalaya SP Mahanta.

The civil revision petition filed by Mahanta citing that the Deputy Commissioner (Judicial) has no jurisdiction to deal with the case, was heard by the High Court of Meghalaya and subsequently the order of Deputy Commissioner was stayed till June 3.
