Among the 10 climbers selected for the expedition, Kharbhih is the only one from the Nort East.
Her experience in climbing includes two peaks – Mt Sikantha (6,133m) and Mt Rudugaira (5,919m), both of which she summitted in 2009.
The IMF is the only organisation that controls and organises expeditions in the Indian Himalayas and promotes sports climbing (artifical climbing) in the country.
Such expeditions are organised by the Foundation every year to produce and encourage young, talented mountaineers.
Meghalaya, through MeRCMA, Shabong said, has produced and nurtured both boys and girls to become mountaineers.
The state has also been recognised by the IMF as a place with the potential to produce more talented mountaineers to excel in international expeditions in the future.
Meghalaya was recently in the climbing news after Wansuk Myrthong became only the second person from the state to successfully scale Mt Everest recently.
MeRCMA, Shabong said, extended their regards and wishes to Myrthong for her achievement.
