SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Medical Service Association will resort to one day cease work of outpatient departments in the entire 5 districts of Garo Hills on Tuesday in protest against the recent attack on Williamnagar Civil Hospital.

A clash between the people and the security forces over the arrest of three dacoits, who are minors resulted in the damage to Williamnagar Civil Hospital.

Police had prevented the move of angry mob to attack the dacoits who were brought to the Hospital for medical examination.

Besides the window panes of the Hospital, three vehicles were also damaged at its premises.

The East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Viljay Mantri said that in a symbolic gesture, several school children on Monday cleaned the Hospital and its premises.

“This will give a befitting signal to the culprits involved in the attack of the Hospital, he said.
