New Delhi: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma and Home Minister Roshan Warjri along with Chief Secretary WMS Pariat and DGP Prem Singh will attend a crucial Conference of Chief Ministers on Internal Security, which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on Wednesday.
Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, who is back from the United States, will deliver the opening address.
The meeting assumes significance on the wake of the massive attack on top politicians in Chhattisgarh by Naxalites recently, for which a separate session will deal with Left Wing Extremism (LWE) issues with the chief ministers of Naxal-affected states.
The participants will review internal security situation in the country.
Police reforms, capacity building, strengthening of counter terrorism capabilities and intelligence apparatus, National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) and focus on ongoing and new initiatives will be on the agenda, official sources said.
Other issues to be deliberated upon include Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & System (CCTNS), issues related to LWE, border management, coastal security and other Centre-State issues.
While Dr Sangma is already in the national capital, others from Meghalaya arrived here on Tuesday night.
