World Environment Day
Botany Department NSS, NCC, Rangers and Red Cross Units of Lady Keane College in collaboration with Canara Bank, Lady Keane Branch will organize a programme on World Environment on June 5 at college auditorium.
lOn account of World Environment Day, the Partners of Pla Iew Club in collaboration with the Dorbar Shnong Pynthorbah, will organize an environment awareness rally for school students from within the village of Pynthorbah on the theme “My environment, my responsibilty” on June 5. The rally will start from St Joseph’s School, Pynthorbah at 10:30 am.
lSeng Samla Malki will conduct a cleaning drive as part of Environment Day Celebration at Malki point at 10. 30 am on Wednesday.
Felicitation
The 1st MLP Battalion will organise a barakhana at 1st MLP Bn, Mawiong on June 6 at 1.30 pm to felicitate Wansuk Myrthong who scaled the Mount Everest recently.
Meghalaya Icon
The Meghalaya Aids Control Society will organize the Meghalaya Icon IV at East Jaintia Hills, West Jaintia Hills, Ri Bhoi, West Garo hills, East Garo hills, South West Khasi hills and East Khasi Hills.
Achievement
The three MeECL Schools located at Umiam, Sumer and Kyrdemkulai have recorded excellent result in SSLC Examination 2013. The MeECL School Umiam and Sumer recorded 100 per cent pass percentage while that in Kyrdemkulai recorded 90 per cent pass percentage.
Camp
A free health camp will be organised by the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides at Lamjingshai UP School, Umtyngar from 9.30 onwards on June 5 to mark the world environment Day.
Meeting
The Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides held its annual general meeting on May 31 at the conference hall of Bharat Scouts and Guides. In the meeting, the members also felicitated Dr A Begum who was honoured by the government of Bangladesh with the ‘Friends of Liberation War Honour’. News office bearers were also elected on this day with GG Pariat as its president, Dr MPR Lyngdoh, A Begum and Lt Col V Bajpai as the vice presidents, David O Rynjah as the general secretary besides others.
Bible study
The Pentecostal Mission, Shillong will conduct a special Bible study at U Soso Tham Auditorium on June 6-9 from 5pm onwards on the theme ‘….the things which God hath prepared for them that love him (I Cor 2:9)’. There will also be a youth meeting on Friday and Saturday at 10am.
