Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission has recommended disciplinary action against an officer-in-charge for ‘willfully’ disobeying its order to provide information under the RTI Act, 2005.

The OC of Sangram police station in Kurung Kumey district, who is also the public information officer, did not furnish information sought by an old and illiterate villager, official sources said here on Saturday.

The APIC received a complaint from the man, Yumlam Pumi, stating that in spite of the Commission’s order dated August 13, 2012 the OC did not furnish the case records of an accident in which his younger brother Yumlam Tarang had died.

As such the man could not file a case for claiming compensation.

The APIC instructed the DGP to obtain the case records of the accident and give it to Pumi free of cost and also inform the Commission within 30 days, sources said.

The DGP has been asked to submit the action taken report to the Commission within a month, they added. (PTI)
