KHADC CEM tables deficit budget

 SHILLONG: KHADC Chief Executive Member (CEM) PN Syiem on Tuesday presented a Rs 27,610 deficit budget for the fiscal year of 2013-2014 on the first day of the Council’s Summer Session.

In the budget, total expenditure was fixed at at Rs 88, 22, 39,630 crore, while the total revenue was pegged at Rs.88,22,12,020 crore, a deficit of Rs 27,610.

As per the budget estimates, the KHADC is expecting to receive Rs.1.35 crore as license fee. Share from minerals and professional Tax are pegged at Rs.15.25 crore and Rs.7.5 crore.

With the revision of pay to the staff of the KHADC the major share of the budget will be used for the payment of salaries to the staff and the arrears due to them. Apart from that development activities of the council would also continue, Syiem said in his budget speech.

Besides presenting of the budget, the Executive Committee tabled the report on the election of the Sirdar Tynriang and also the Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Village Administration) Bill, 2013 on first day of the session.
