KHADC, KAAC to embark on demarcation exercise

 SHILLONG: KHADC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pynshngaiñ N Syiem has informed that the Council has proposed to the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) of Assam on the need to properly demarcate the areas which are under the jurisdiction of the two Autonomous District Councils.

“We need to know the areas which are under the two Councils. We would soon carry out a joint exercise to identify our own areas,” Syiem said while replying to a question raised by Mawkyrwat MDC Enbin K Raswai during Question Hour of the Summer Session of the KHADC on Friday.

He, however, suggested on the need to have a series of meeting between the two ADCs before embarking on the demarcation exercise.

“The first meeting between the two ADCS in this regard is expected to be held soon,” Syiem said.

On the issue of encroachment of Assam in Sabuda area in Ri-Bhoi district, Syiem informed that he had personally taken the up matter with the KAAC.

“They have assured to look into the matter,” Syiem said.
