Myrthong felicitated

 SHILLONG: The first women climber from Meghalaya to conquer Mount Everest, Wansuk Myrthong was felicitated by sports & youth affairs minister Zenith Sangma during a formal function here on Friday.

During the function, Myrthong was felicitated with a citation and cash award of Rs 2 lakh

While lauding Myrthong for her sincere dedication, the minister Zenith Sangma believed that Myrthong could be a good messenger and a source of inspiration to the young talented youths of the State.

Meghalaya Director General of Police (DGP) Prem Singh earlier suggested that Myrthong’s achievement must be suitably rewarded by the government as was done by other states to their achievers.

It is learnt that Myrthong who is a woman constable in the Meghalaya police is all set to get out of turn promotion as assistant sub inspector and a proposal to this end has already been made to the government.
