Kohima: The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) has taken a very critical stand of the press reports “Centre asks Nagaland Government to stop NSCN (I-M) levying tax” wherein it stated that the Director (NE) J. P. N. Singh of the Government of India (GoI) Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) “has blatantly accused the NSCN of the increase in price on commodities and violation of the Cease-fire ground rules”.

In a strongly worded press note issued by the Ministry of Information and Publicity of the NSCN-IM has pointed out that the Director (NE) had also created an unwarranted “Threat perception” scenario. Listing out the long list of highest level commitment made by both military and political leaders of India, the MIP questioned as to whether Singh (Director – NE) was “above all these commitments given to the NSCN and the Naga people by the Government of India”.

The NSCN (IM) wanted to know whether such utterance from its Home Ministry official was “the good sign or the sincerity of the GoI and its MHA for a negotiated political solution”. “Does Mr. Singh know that serious efforts have been given by both the parties and they are making much progress in the current political talks?”

The MIP further questioned Mr. Singh as to whether he knew that during the more than 15 years of political negotiation both sides have taken mutual steps towards solution. (UNI)
