SHILLONG: The State Government is planning to completely take over the management of the various secondary and higher secondary deficit schools in the State which are not run by the religious minorities.

In a notification issued Directorate of School Education and Literacy (DSEL) department on July 2, the department said that as part of provincialisation process, the schools would require to submit the names of the sponsoring body, the number of teaching and non-teaching staff and other details concerning it.

Earlier, the Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers Association (KJDSTA) along with Garo Hills Deficit School Teachers and Employees Association had demanded the Centre to provincialise the services of all government aided school teachers in the State.
