SHILLONG: The KSU has opposed the decision of the State Government to select candidates for MBBS course in various medical colleges under the State quota as per National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) merit list.

“The decision of the State Government would affect the students from MBoSE since the NEET was based as per CBSE syllabus,” KSU education secretary, Donald V Thabah, said in a statement issued here on Saturday.

“We want the Government to follow the old policy of selecting candidates (on the basis of the aggregate of percentage of marks obtained in the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate examination). We are also totally opposed to the move to abolish the State quota,” Thabah added.

While criticising the Government for not publicizing the decision to implement the NEET, he informed that the students’ body would meet the State Health Minister AL Hek in this connection shortly.
