Workshop on sports medicine held

SHILLONG: A workshop-cum-clinic on Holistic sports medicine with special reference to Homeopathy was held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Wednesday which was attended by coaches and officials and staff of the State Sports and Youth Affairs department.

Speaking on the occasion as the resource person, Dr. Jatin N Valia said that the workshop aims to create better sports person, healthier individual and a healthier state.

The workshops included interactive educative seminars and practical sessions on various facets of sports medicine.

During the workshop, Dr Valia discussed at length on the significance of Homeopathy in the management and treatment of injuries besides the various roles of holistic therapy in sports and its uses in different kinds of injuries.

Dr. Valia is the chief sports physician at the Dhanraj Pillay Hockey Academy and had also been the sports physician to the Orissa Cricket Academy.
