1st Division football: Imson drub Umphrup

SHILLONG: Imson launched an all-out assault on Umphrup to hand them a 6-0 thrashing during a league match of the First Division football tournament at the JN Complex here on Friday.

Pynkhreh Nongkseh with a hat trick was the star for Imson which gained three crucial points from the match.

Umphrup looked no match against their favoured opponents and were outplayed in every aspect of the game.

Nongkseh opened the account for his side in the 20th minute and followed it up with two more shots at the nets in the 44th and 73rd minutes respectively.

Balashemphang Lamare (22″), Morningstar Shylla (76″) and Aplanson Maw (80″) were the other scorers for Imson.

On Saturday, Shillong Lajong FC will take on Shillong United in a crucial encounter at 4pm.

Madan hold Mawpat

Meanwhile, in Madan held Mawpat to a 2-2 draw in Friday’s Second Division match played at Ground III, Polo Grounds.

Madan drew first blood as early as the 6th minute with Pahara Mukhim beating the keeper to the nets. However, Pynehbok Pyngrope’s double strike in the 26th and 37th minutes turned the tide in Mawpat’s favour.

Later Fullding Mawlot helped Madan level the scores by converting one in the 44th minute.
