Activists of All Koch-Rajbonshi Students Union (AKRSU) staging a protest demanding separate Kamatapur state, in Guwahati on Saturday. A delegation of All Koch-Rajbonshi Students Union (AKRSU) met Governor JB Patnaik in Guwahati today. AKRSU president Biswajit Ray, who led the delegation, said the Governor, while being non-committal on the statehood demand, supported special Constitutional safeguards for the Koch-Rajbonshis to enable the community to preserve their culture and heritage. The eight-member AKRSU delegation also submitted a memorandum to the Governor with their demands for a Kamatapur state and ST status for the community. (PTI)
