SHILLONG: The intervention of Prime Minister was sought against the move to amend RTI Act to exempt political parties from its purview.

City based NGO leader and RTI activist Agnes Kharshiing in a letter addressed to the Prime Minister said that the move to bring amendment to RTI during the upcoming Parliament session will only weaken the Act .

Opposing any amendment to RTI, Kharshiing said that the very purpose of introducing RTI will be defeated if the Government amends the clauses in RTI.
