NONGSTOIN: The Village Employment Council (VEC) members conducted a meeting on Sunday at the Nongstoin BNRGSK Hall. The meeting was attended by over 200 VECs.
In the meeting the VECs discussion centered on the pending wage cost of the MNREGS for Nongstoin Block. The members alleged that it was only the Nongstoin Block in the district whose wage cost was released late. They also alleged that the other blocks received their wage cost on time and even received surplus funds than the amount proposed. The VECs slammed the Deputy Commissioner West Khasi Hills Sylvester Kharlyngdoh for allegedly being impartial towards the beneficiaries of the MNREGS of Nongstoin Block. They demanded the immediate release of all the pending funds that were entitled to under the MNREGS. The VECs also formed an association known as the Nongstoin Block Village Employment Council Association (NBVECA).
