SHILLONG: Firm in their resolve to press the Government to implement the Inner Line Permit (ILP), the various NGOs would meet on Thursday to decide on holding a public meeting here on the issue.
The public meeting is aimed at mobilizing support for the NGOs’ demand for implementation of ILP which they believe would come handy in curbing the problem of influx and illegal migration into the State.
“We will meet on Thursday to decide on the public meeting in Shillong. We are also likely to announce a series of agitation in the public meeting to put pressure on the State Government for implementing the ILP,” FKJGP president Joe Marwein said here on Tuesday.
He said the NGOs have already organized meetings in various district headquarters of Khasi and Jaintia Hills to gather support and enlighten people on the need for ILP.
“We are also disappointed with Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma for not keeping his commitment of looking into the recommendations of the High Level Committee (HLC) on influx,” Marweiñ said.
