Kohima: The Ao Senden and other Naga tribes today observed “fast and prayer” day today from 6 A. M. to 8 A. M. as the Nagaland Foot Hill Road Construction Committee (NFRCC) resolution to invoke God’s blessing towards construction of the Foothill Road.
According to a press release, Ao Senden President Dr Sangyu Yaden and Assistant General Secretary M. Temsu Jamir said the foothill road would not only physical connect the regions, but also for economic gains. It said it was encouraged by the support and positive response from all over the state particularly the genuine effort made by the State Government for early construction of the road.
Wednesday’s ‘prayer and fasting’ were performed in all the churches under the Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM), the apex body of Ao Baptist Church Union, which has informed all the 155 churches under its banner today observed the ‘prayer and fasting’. According to reports received here said that all the districts, which will touched by the Foothill Road has also observed the ‘prayer and fasting’.
Earlier, in a statement issued by ABAM executive secretary Rev Dr. Mar Atsongchanger and ABAM President Rev Ponen said the prayer points as proposed by Ao leaders in Dimapur Saturday would be “No boundary dispute with Assam in the process; unity and understanding among the ten tribes involved; no hurdles in connection with the State Government’s assurance on financial assistance as well as other aspects; no harm or loss of life to people in the areas affected by the road and respective Churches could add relevant prayer points.
Earlier, Ao Senden also called upon Nagas and friends of the Nagas to particularly remember August 14 as ‘Naga Independence Day’ and prayed for all the national workers and leaders that Nagas aspiration would be realized in reality. (UNI)
