SHILLONG: A magisterial probe will be conducted to ascertain the death of under-trial prisoner Asim D Sangma who was brought to the Meghalaya Institute of Mental Health And Neurological Sciences (MIMHANS) for treatment from Tura jail.

Police claimed that the mentally-ill UTP committed suicide by hanging himself at MIMHANS on Saturday.

However, to ascertain the actual cause, the West Garo Hills district administration has decided to entrust the magisterial probe to Additional District Magistrate, Tura, AVD Shira.
