Suicide case: MPUF call for Jowai PS OC’s suspension

 SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Peoples’ United Front, central governing body (MPUF-CGB) has condemned the custodial deaths of two persons in Jowai police station and demanded the immediate suspension of the officer in charge (OC) of the PS during the period of magisterial enquiry. While questioning the responsibility and availability of policemen at the time when the two persons accused of committing theft hanged themselves inside the lock up, the MPUF said that if the OC is found guilty post enquiry, it will join hands with other pressure groups to remove the police official permanently.

The two accused identified as Kitbok Kasar (24) of Mynthong, Jowai and Daphahsalanmi Rupon (26) of Salaroh, Jowai who were arrested by Jowai police in connection with a motorbike theft case, were found hanging inside the lock-up at Jowai police station in the wee hours of Friday.
