SHILLONG: In view of the 12-hour State bandh call issued by various pressure groups of the State on September 2, the State Government on Friday directed all heads of departments to ensure smooth functioning of their offices and normal attendance of employees.

The bandh, scheduled from 5 am to 5 pm on Monday, was called after Thursday’s failed meeting between the NGOs and the Chief Minister on the issue of implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the State.

Chief Secretary, WMS Pariat, informed that the heads of departments have been instructed to ensure that all employees attend offices, and appropriate action taken against anyone for non-compliance of the directive.

The heads of departments have also been instructed to submit reports on the percentage of attendance in their offices through FAX to the State Government at 11 am and 2 pm.

Meanwhile, East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Goyal informed that transportation would be provided to the employees so as to enable them to attend to their duties.
