SHILLONG: Dr Gurupada Shandilya, Director, Institute of Social and Cultural Studies (ISCS), an organization promoting research and academic activities on various social and cultural issues and working with academicians, students, researchers and activists on topics of historical and cultural interests in eastern India including Meghalaya and other parts of the North Eastern region, breathed his last on September 1 after a failed battle against cancer at his Kolkata residence.

Residents of Shillong will remember the departed soul for his recent collaboration with the city based Sri Aurobindo Institute of Indian Culture to recently organize the first-ever national seminar on ‘Interrelation between Sanskrit and Indian culture with special reference to Sri Aurobindo’.
