HLSC probe report on job scam

SHILLONG: Even after the High Level Scrutiny Committee, which was formed to probe the alleged tampering of marks in the appointment of teachers, submitted its report to the Government, the Education department is in the dark about the submission if one goes by the reply to a question put forward through RTI by an NGO leader.

“There is no record in the Education department to indicate that the report was submitted to the Government,” said BS Sohliya, the Public Information Officer and Deputy Secretary, Education in his reply to the RTI query filed by CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing.

Sohliya said that the Education department is also not aware of any government official receiving the report. He also added that there is no department file relating to the subject.

To another question, Sohliya said that the department has no knowledge of anybody possessing the screening committee report.

Earlier, it was reported that the Scrutiny Committee had submitted the report to the Government.

According to the report, there were instances of manipulations of the marks of deserving candidates.

It may be mentioned that if the Public Information Officer provides false information regarding the matter, he can be penalized as per the RTI act.
