SHILLONG: Langsning’s Korean recruit Hyojun Wi displayed a promising performance in his first official match, opening the score for Langsning as they rallied to an easy 4-0 win over a new look Mawlai in the Shillong Premier League on Thursday.
Wi scored an early third minute goal before Langsning closed with a comprehensive victory, despite Mawlai looking promising in the first half.
It was the second half assault that allowed Langsning to control the game as they created numerous opportunities.
Making best use of the flanks, Langsning’s second goal came in the 68th minute through skipper Victor Shadap’s tap in following a passage of combination play.
Four minutes later, Teiborlang Shangshai scored Langsning’s third before Ailad Kynta delivered the final blow in the 84th minute through a converted penalty.
Mawlai, unable to manipulate the midfield, gave away possession on too many occasions, while Langsning’s forward attack took advantage of their opponents’ depleted defence to get their campaign off to a positive start and earn three points.
On Friday, first match losers MLP will play Malki SC.
