JOWAI: Various cement plants under the banner of the Jaintia Hills Cement Manufacturing Association donated 20 beds and other accessories including mattresses, pillows, saline stands and tables to the Khliehriat CHC recently.

The items were handed over to the authority of the Khliehriat CHC, during a short meeting presided over by Gopal Sharma and attended by Parliamentary Secretary in charge Education, Justine Dkhar, as the chief guest.

Addressing the gathering, Dkhar spelled out the importance and the work load of the Khliehriat CHC as it is situated in the headquarters of East Jaintia Hills District, because of which people rush to Khliehriat for treatment despite the presence of a number of health centres in other parts of the district.

He lauded the effort of cement companies for contributing beds and accessories to the health centre.

Others who spoke at the gathering were TB Singh, EAC, DV Lyngdoh, SDMHO, Dr. L Passah and ADC SC Laloo. P Pandey delivered the vote of thanks.
