SHILLONG: The controversial Chancellor of CMJ University Chandra Mohan Jha weathered an onslaught of cross-examination at the State CID headquarters for the second consecutive day on Thursday after he made a surprising appearance before police on Wednesday.

Jha, who has been on the run for last three months, appeared before police after the Supreme Court directed him to do so before September 20.

On Thursday, Jha was taken to State CID headquarters where he was questioned by senior CID officials and his interrogation continued till late evening.

Later, Jha was taken to Shillong Civil Hospital for mandatory health check-up.

The State CID had been on the trail for Jha after former Meghalaya Governor RS Mooshahary in the capacity as visitor of the University had highlighted various irregularities within the operational stratagem of the University.

Meanwhile, commenting on the CMJ University affairs, the State Chief Secretary WMS Pariat said that Government would wait for the facts to come out before taking any step on the order of the Supreme Court to dissolve the University within three months.

“We are not jumping into any conclusion. Whatever is required, will be done”, Pariat said.
