SHILLONG: A solitary goal from Bresstar Jyrwa was enough for Vilco Secondary School, Pynthorbah, to lift the W David Lyngwi Cup at the 1st Interschool Hockey Tournament in the city on Thursday.

Bresstar’s 23rd minute field goal was enough to get past Army Public School in the final.

In an earlier match, St Anthony’s HS School (Grey) beat Hubert Memorial School, Umpling, 2-1 in the third place play-off.

Bryan Dkhar (12th minute) put St Anthony’s into the lead, but Stevenson Lamo (28th) then equalised for Hubert Memorial.

A 49th minute field goal by Heswia Wariat secured the result for the Antonians.

Bresstar claimed the Highest Scorer award for his four goals in the tournament.

Gregory Jojo was adjudged Best Player, while Jeremiah Nongrum was named Best Goalkeeper. Both boys played for St Anthony’s.
