SHILLONG: While supporting the growing demand for implementation of the ILP, Langrin Youth Welfare Association (LYWA) has come down heavily on Deputy Chief Minister Rowell Lyngdoh for trying to mislead the public by claiming that it is only the NGOs who want the ILP.
“The statement of the Deputy Chief Minister is not a fact since majority of the people even in the rural areas are supporting this movement for introduction of the ILP to check the problem of influx and flow of illegal immigrants,” LYWA president BS Lyngdoh said here on Friday.
He said that the Mawkyrwat Congress legislator (Lyngdoh) should first know the ground reality before making any statement.
“The Deputy Chief Minister is making this statement out of political compulsion. We know that in his heart of hearts that he (Lyngdoh) also understands the importance of implementing the ILP to safeguard and protect the local indigenous population from being swamped away by people from outside,” LYWA president said.
