On St Mary’s College Teachers’ woes

Why should the government not approve the appointment of the new Principal, Sr Mary Harriet when the former Principal has allegedly misappropriated money to the tune of a several lakhs of rupees? The Sisters in fact should have thrown out the old Principal a long time ago when letters had appeared in The Shillong Times stating that the Principal was actually never seen in college ? Why do the teachers and students have to suffer? The Government should take a pro-active stand for once!

ILP issue

Editor,

Apropos the article by H H. Mohrmen ” Solutions to rid the State of ILP quagmire” (ST 23 September, 2013), we welcome his idea of a Commission headed by Mr Phrang Roy an experienced and non-political person. We also suggest to include few knowledgeable persons in the Commission to end the stalemate and solve the burning issue. We request the NGOS and members of the public to support the same.

Yours etc.

Independent commission – the third voice of the hour

Editor,

Apropos today’s article, the 23rd September 2013on ILP Stalemate by H. H. Mohrmen, I think it is a brilliant idea to have an Independent Commission to be a headed by our respectable Bah Phrang Roy to deal with the present issue. The Commission as stated should be non-partisan, non-political and it should include all stake holders and cross sections of the society. Hope that this Independent Commission will not be another confused committee or wasted commission to be ignored or rejected by the Government again.

Yours etc

Rev. W. C. Khongwir
