SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Body Building Association (MBBA) will hold the Mr Meghalaya 2013 body building competition on Friday at the Asom Kristi Kendra from 1pm onwards, it was announced by Arnold Lanong, the General Secretary of the MBBA, on Thursday.
Through a press release, Lanong explained that, after 23 years, all body building associations in Meghalaya have come together to “promote the sport effectively in the state for the benefit of all sports-loving people” and the burgeoning number of body builders in the region.
He explained that the disparate associations were hampering the development of body building in Meghalaya by getting in the way of selecting official representatives for regional and national competitions.
The Indian Body Building Federation, which the MBBA is affiliated to, recently directed all states to have only one official association, so that efforts at promoting the sport can be focused and concentrated.
Having just one association would also aid in the issue of selection.
Lanong also wished that body building enthusiasts come out on Friday to witness the Mr Meghalaya event.
