Quiz

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Deepjyoti Socio Environmental Society of Bishnupur, in collaboration with Assam Club, Laban, is organizing a school-level quiz competition on the Father of the Nation on October 2 on the Assam Club premises. The competition is divided into Group A (for students from Class V to VII) and B (for students from VIII to X). Each school can send four students for each group. Interested schools can send participants’ names on or before September 28 to Secretary, Assam Club.

Onam

The Kalakairaly will organise the Onam celebrations on September 29 at Anton Hall, Don Bosco at 11 am, where Speaker of the Legislative Assembly AT Mondal will be present as the chief guest.

Cleaning drive

The NSS unit, Anthonian Youth Club and NCC unit of St. Anthony’s College will organise an annual cleaning drive within the campus and its adjoining areas on September 28 from 1 pm till 4 pm.

Felicitation

Prof MW Synrem, programme officer, NSS unit of Shillong College and Nasima Begum Choudhury, student volunteer of NSS Shillong College, were felicitated with the University Level Best Programme Officer and Best NSS Volunteer 2013, respectively, at the 44th Foundation Day of NSS held at NEHU campus on September 24.

Aesthetic meet

Shillong will play host to the 6th CME and live workshop of the Aesthetic Society of North East India on September 28 at Hope Clinic, Pine Mount Ridge.

Tourism Day

The Tourism Department will observed World Tourism Day by holding a seminar on ‘Tourism and Water: Protecting our Common Future’ at Hotel Pinewood on September 27 at 10 am.

NDMA Day

On the occasion of National Disaster Management Authority Day on September 28, North Eastern Service, AIR, Shillong will broadcast a live radio bridge programme from 9.16 pm to 10.15 pm with special reference to the North eastern region. The programme will be available on SW 60.36 metres corresponding to 4970 KHz and FM 100.1 Hz. For participation and queries, listeners can call on 0364-2502012 from 9.16 pm.

Awareness

The Meghalaya AIDS control Society in collaboration with Women Cell Synod College will organise an awareness programme on HIV/AIDS on ‘Youth and AIDS’ on September 27 at Dinam Hall, Jaiaw at 1 pm.

Competition

The Meghalaya State Council for Child Welfare will organise a national painting competition on September 28 at Seven Set School from 10 am onwards.

Blood donation

The NSS, NCC and the RRC, St. Edmund’s College, in collaboration with Regional Blood Bank, Pasteur Institute and State Blood Transfusion Council will organise a blood donation camp on September 30 at St. Edmund’s College Campus from 9:30 am onwards. This is part of the regular feature of College Week Celebration and the commemoration of the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day on October 1.
