SHILLONG: Three goals from Seityasen Singh helped Royal Wahingdoh FC beat Pohkseh 6-2 and move to second place in the ongoing Shillong Premier League on Monday.
In the match played at the JN Sports Complex, Polo, Seityasen scored in the 18th, 23rd and 47th minutes.
After Seityasen’s early strike, Wallamsuk Nongkhlaw equalised in the 19th minute for Pohkseh, before the Royals added another five.
Jackychand Singh (32nd minute), Bickyson Kharkongor (66th) and Bekay Bawar (79th) were the other goal-scorers for Wahingdoh.
Johnny Marboh pulled one back in the last few minutes of the match but it was a little too late for Pohkseh.
After a slowish start to the League this season, Royal Wahingdoh have now moved themselves up to second place in the standings on 10 points, but they are still five behind runaway leaders Rangdajied United FC, who defeated Nangkiew Irat 4-2 on Friday and have yet to lose a match.
Nangkiew also have 10 points, but Wahingdoh’s big wins have given the latter side a better goal difference.
Langsning remain in fourth place with nine points.
They were able to defeat MLP by one goal to nil in Saturday’s match, their second victory in the SPL.
The top four teams have all played five matches each, while Malki will play their fifth on Tuesday against Mawlai.
Fifth-placed Malki, however, cannot overtake Langsning even if they beat Mawlai as they only have five points thus far.
Pohkseh are in sixth place, a point behind Malki, having won just one of their five games.
MLP and Mawlai round out the table, having lost all their matches so far (five and four, respectively).
Top of the goal-scoring list is Rangdajied’s Shin Hojun and Nangkiew Irat’s Nnamdi Stephan Harry, with five apiece.
Seityasen’s hat-trick has seen him leap to joint second with four goals, along with team mate Bickyson.
