Inauguration
The City Office (Shillong) of the University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM), will be inaugurated on October 3. Chief Adviser to the State Government, DD Lapang, will attend the function as chief guest.
Golden Jubilee
The year-long golden jubilee celebration of the Siamsinpawlpi, Shillong, an association focusing on the welfare of Paite students studying in Shillong, which began in October, 2012, will culminate on Oct 2 at U Soso Tham Auditorium from 11 am.

Women’s College will organise the fifth Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar National Endowment Lecture on the theme ‘The emerging culture of small town India’ on Oct 4 at 1 pm on the college premises. Prof Rowena Robinson, Dept. of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Guwahati, will be the resource person.

Gandhi Jayanti
The commemoration of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi will be held on October 2 at Rilang Building, Secretariat at 9.30 am.
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Bongo Badhu Mahila Samiti will be organizing various programmes like sports, art competition etc., for children at the Shillong High School premises on Oct 2 which will be followed by distribution of clothes etc., to needy people/ orphanage. The Prize distribution for all the competitions will be held on Oct 6 at 4 pm at the Community Hall of the Pynthorumkhrah Dorbar.
Cleaning drive
The NSS Unit of Sankardev College took part in a cleaning drive at Mawjrong village under Laitkroh Elaka, the adopted village of the NSS Unit on September 28.
Dry day
The deputy commissioners of East Khasi Hills and the South West Khasi Hills districts have declared October 2 as dry day throughout the two districts on account of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

The NSS, NCC and RRC units of St. Edmund’s College in collaboration with the Regional Blood Bank, Pasteur Institute organised the voluntary blood donation camp on the college premises on Monday.
