TURA: The inefficiency of the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) has once again being exposed with the Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP), Rongram Circle, questioning the manner in which the Corporation has been functioning.

In a statement issued to the media, the Federation alleged that the service provided by the Corporation had drastically deteriorated in almost the entire Garo Hills and has reached an all-time low. The situation is especially critical in the Rongram region where a single lineman has been put in charge of maintenance works for the whole region greatly affecting the service being provided to consumers.

The Federation rued that its demand for posting of an additional lineman along with a helper in the region has not been complied with by the MeECL.

It further alleged that the MeECL was not providing the tools and equipments required by the concerned lineman to carry out proper maintenance works in the region which was an added setback in providing uninterrupted power supply to the people.

Demanding proper service in return for money paid by the consumers, the Federation has urged the MeECL authorities to upgrade the service being provided in the region and warned that it would be forced to undertake its own course of action if the problems are not rectified immediately.
