Agartala: The Tripura government has framed rules to check unlawful construction of religious structures by encroaching roads and government lands, state PWD minister said on Thursday.

The Tripura unauthorised religious structure construction survey and its regularisation, relocation and removal rules, 2013 was framed in compliance with the Supreme Court directives to check unlawful construction of religious structures by encroaching on government lands and roads, state PWD minister Badal Chowdhury said. “The rule was framed at the meeting of the council of ministers held on Tuesday last and the district administrations were asked to conduct a survey to find out how many religious structures were made by unlawfully encroaching on government lands and all the district magistrates were asked to submit a report soon,” Chowdhury said. He said religious structures were mushrooming on government lands and legal action would be initiated to remove those structures. (PTI)
