SHILLONG: Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Education Prof RC Laloo said that the draft of the State Education Policy would be placed before the Cabinet for its approval after incorporating the views and suggestions of the various stakeholders.

“We would want the policy to be ready at the earliest,” Prof Laloo said while replying to a question raised by Nongkrem legislator Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit (HSPDP) during the Question Hour of the Autumn Session of the Assembly here on Monday.

Earlier, Basaiawmoit said that with the education system in shambles, the Education Policy is the need of the hour.

“At present, there is lot of confusion in the education system especially with respect to the frequent change in the syllabus and texts,” he said.

The HSPDP legislator also urged the Government to take the teaching community into confidence while formulating the Policy.
